Giant-Size X-Men #1 (1975)

Giant-Size X-Men #1

Like every other 10 year old in 1975, I loved this comic. I didn’t like the old X-Men (except the Beast), but the new members were weird and cool. Colossus, Nightcrawler, Thunderbird and Storm were all brand-new characters. I hadn’t heard of Wolverine yet (missed Hulk #181). And the story line was different too. Professor X travels the world recruiting mutants to rescue the original X-Men team from a giant mutant island. Written by Len Wein with artwork by Dave Cockrum. A great comic!

Nightcrawler!

(Like every other 30 year old in 1995, I regretted selling this comic back when I was a teenager. This is one of the few Bronze Age comics that became a valuable collector’s item. Right now, depending on the condition, this comic can sell for a couple hundred dollars up to a couple thousand dollars. All I have are reprints.)
