In this infamous issue, comic book writer Steve Gerber has failed to meet a deadline for the follow-up to Howard the Duck #15. Instead of using old reprint materials (the standard procedure for missing deadlines), Gerber presents a series of essays about the comic book industry and his philosophy as a comic book writer. Each essay is penciled by different artists including Gene Colan, Alan Weiss, Ed Hannigan, Marie Severin, Dave Cockrum, Tom Palmer, Al Milgrom, John Buscema, Dick Giordano and Michael Nasser.
