Ballantine’s EC Comics Paperbacks (1964-1965)

Various writers and artists

In the mid-60’s, Ballantine Books reprinted several collections from EC horror and sci fi comics that were no longer being published. Along with two collections of Ray Bradbury stories (The Autumn People and Tomorrow Midnight), Ballantine published these three books:

Tales from the Crypt (1964)

Reprints Vault of Horror #32, #33,#35, Tales from the Crypt #22, #37, #46, and Haunt of Fear #12, #21.

Tales of the Incredible (1965)

Reprints Weird Fantasy #9, #15, #17, #18, Weird Science #12, #17, #19, #20.

The Vault of Horror (1965)

Reprints Vault of Horror #34, Tales from the Crypt #23, #25, #36, #39, Haunt of Fear #7, #13, #22.

As you can see, the stories are in glorious black and white, and printed horizontally on the page (making reading more difficult).

The scripts are by Al Feldstein and William Gaines. The art is by Jack Davis, Reed Crandall, Al Feldstein, Graham Ingels, Johnny Craig, George Evans, Joe Orlando, Wally Wood, and Al Williamson. The covers are by Frank Frazetta.
